Welcome to Stockholm Valley

Stockholm Valley is a news and media platform built entirely for the Stockholm tech startup community. We cover the people, the companies, the ideas and the investors behind one of the most dynamic tech ecosystems in the world. If Stockholm's tech scene were a city of its own, consider this the bulletin board that keeps everyone informed.

What’s the vision behind Stockholm Valley?

We want Stockholm Valley to become the central platform for the city’s tech startup community. That means being more than a publication. We want to become the shared voice of the ecosystem, a place where anyone connected to the scene can feel seen, heard and understood.

The term "Stockholm Valley" has been used occasionally by people in the local tech scene. Our goal is to make it official. We believe Stockholm has earned the right to stand alongside the world’s top tech hubs. By capturing and amplifying what’s happening here, we hope to shape how the world sees this city and the people building its future.

In the long term, we aim to host events, grow our contributor network, and eventually expand to other Scandinavian cities with strong startup cultures. But Stockholm will always be at the heart of what we do.

What makes Stockholm Valley different?

Instead of making you track dozens of founders, investors, and news sources; our team filters through the noise, digests the latest developments, and delivers clear, accurate stories about the innovators and ideas shaping the city’s future.

Stockholm has long been known for its engineering talent and world-class innovation, but the city has often kept quiet about its success. That is starting to change. As Silicon Valley shifts and global interest in other tech hubs grows, Stockholm is stepping up. With easier ways to launch a company and new generations of talent arriving in the city, there's never been a more exciting time to document what’s happening.

What kind of content do you publish?

We publish founder stories, startup profiles, coverage of funding rounds, ecosystem updates, and editorials that matter to people working in or following Stockholm’s startup scene. From early-stage builders to VC firms, we feature the work of individuals and teams pushing things forward. You’ll also see interviews, lists and guides, such as our recent piece: 13 Stockholm Innovators To Watch Closely in 2025.

Our content is created with intention. Everything we publish is selected because it has real value to the people reading. Whether it’s a founder’s honest story, a breakdown of an emerging sector, or a spotlight on a new fund, we keep it focused and well reported.

What kind of platform is this?

This is a digital-first, multimedia publication. Our goal is to produce written articles, video content and special features that give you a clear and compelling view into what’s happening in Stockholm’s tech world. Over time, we aim to introduce more formats and channels to deepen that experience.

Is Stockholm Valley just for founders and investors?

Not at all. While we often highlight founders, investors and startup operators, we believe anyone connected to the Stockholm tech startup scene deserves a platform. That includes students, employees, researchers and even curious outsiders. If you’ve done something impactful and you’re part of this community, tell us about it. We’ll take a look.

Do you accept guest contributors?

Yes. If you’re involved in the Stockholm tech startup community and want to contribute an article or opinion piece, we’d love to hear from you. Send an email to daniel@stockholmvalley.com with some background on who you are and what you’d like to write about. Journalism experience is welcome but not required. All contributions go through our editorial team to ensure clarity and quality.

Who is behind Stockholm Valley?

Stockholm Valley was founded and is currently funded by Editor-in-Chief Daniel Alestrand. With a background in startups and early speaking experience at top universities, Daniel set out to create the publication Stockholm’s tech community needed but never had. We are a small, independent team committed to building a credible, people-first publication from the ground up.

How often do you publish?

Since we are still in the early stages, Stockholm Valley does not yet follow a fixed publishing schedule. Instead, we recommend subscribing to our newsletter to be the first to know when new stories go live. You can also follow us on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) for updates.

How do you decide what to cover?

We filter the noise so our readers don’t have to. Our editorial team keeps a close eye on what’s happening in the ecosystem, receives pitches and press releases, and connects with people throughout the city. If something is interesting, newsworthy or useful to the community, we’ll consider covering it.

We receive a high volume of submissions, so not everything makes it. If your press release doesn’t get published immediately, it may be due to timing or fit. Sometimes, stories are held for future publication when they better align with our editorial calendar. We’ve published a guide on how to structure your press release, including templates, to help increase your chances of getting featured.

How do you gather your stories?

We publish original interviews, source stories from press releases, and actively reach out to individuals and companies doing interesting work. Many of our features come directly from conversations with people in the ecosystem. Others are based on submissions we receive from our audience. If you’d like to get covered, the best way is to send a press release or reach out directly.

How can someone pitch a story or get featured?

Anyone can pitch a story to Stockholm Valley. The most effective way is by submitting a press release using the standard format. If you're unsure how to do this, we’ve published a detailed guide that includes templates and best practices. Don’t worry about sending too many updates. If something is off or needs refining, we’ll let you know.

Why is the publication only in English?

Stockholm Valley is written in English so that it’s accessible to the broadest possible audience. Stockholm is home to talent from all over the world. Writing in English helps us serve global readers and international professionals working in the city’s tech sector. If you’d like a translated version of a specific article, email admin@stockholmvalley.com and we’ll do our best to help.

Is Stockholm Valley independent?

Yes. Stockholm Valley is an independent publication. We don’t answer to sponsors or advertisers when it comes to editorial direction. Our goal is simple: reflect what’s really happening in the tech community here, without spin. Readers can trust that what they see is honest and in service of the ecosystem.

Why does Stockholm Valley matter now?

There’s a momentum building in Stockholm that’s impossible to ignore. Startups are being launched every day. International capital is paying closer attention. And a new wave of founders, engineers, designers and thinkers are stepping onto the scene.

What was missing is a place that connects all of this together. That’s what we’re here to build. Stockholm Valley is a publication by and for the people creating the future of technology in this city.

Is there the opportunity to have sponsorship with Stockholm Valley?

Absolutely. While we’re independently run today, we’re open to strategic sponsorships that support our mission. Sponsorships help us expand our reach and grow our coverage. If you’re interested in partnering or supporting us, we’ve created a page that explains the different ways you can get involved.
